What we take away in Harlow, and how to book

Photos first, then a price, then a date that suits you. Use the quote form, WhatsApp us or ring 07834 527 855.

Upholstered seats with the rest

Sofas, armchairs and footstools travel in the same trip as the beds, tables and wardrobes. No second booking.

Past 16 items

Harlow Council's bulky collection tops out at 16 items a booking (as published on 15 October 2026). A full house of furniture often runs past that.

Sheds, fences and garden heaps

If the back of the garden holds an old shed or a run of tired fencing, we take it down and away with the clippings.

Flats and maisonettes

Upstairs, along walkways and down communal stairs. We carry it out ourselves and keep shared areas clear.

Office furniture

Desks, chairs and old cabinets from a Harlow office. Our office clearance page explains how commercial jobs work.

Priced from your photos

Send a few photos and a note about access, and you get a price back before anyone turns up.

Harlow Council's service

The council bulky waste collection, and when we suit you better

Harlow Council collects bulky household items for a fee paid at booking. As published on 15 October 2026, the charges are:

1 to 5 items£35.50
6 to 8 items£53.50
9 to 12 items£77.50
13 to 16 items£101.50

Upholstered seating costs extra on top: £10 per item up to a 2 seater, £20 for a 3 or 4 seater, £30 for a 5 or 6 seater, and £3 for small upholstered items. The council also says upholstered items cannot be collected with other bulky waste, because the Environment Agency requires specialist disposal for them.

For a fridge and a couple of chairs, the council service may well be the simpler choice. It gets awkward when a sofa is part of a bigger clear out, when there are more than 16 items, or when the rubbish includes things the council does not list, such as garden waste or building materials.

Our pricing

How we put a price on a Harlow job

We do not charge per item the way the council does. We look at the whole load: the van space it needs, the weight, anything that needs separate handling, and the carry from where it sits to the road. Upholstered furniture is part of that price, not an add on.

That makes it easy to compare. Count your items against the council table above, then send us photos of the same load and see our figure. Our rubbish removal prices page shows how council costs and ours line up.

Coverage

Covering the whole new town

Harlow was designated a new town on 25 March 1947, and its neighbourhoods spread across 4 postcode districts, CM17 to CM20. We cover all of them, from the streets around Harlow Town and Harlow Mill stations out to the edges near junctions 7 and 7a of the M11.

We come up from Theydon Bois, near Epping, and also work in Ongar to the east.

The local tip

Harlow Recycling Centre at Temple Bank

Harlow is better served than most of west Essex here. Harlow Recycling Centre, Temple Bank, CM20 2DY, is one of the Essex County Council sites that accepts vans, as read on 15 October 2026. A few things to know before you go:

  • Every visit needs a booking, and vans, pick ups and large trailers book through a separate van option.
  • From 16 October the site opens daily, 9am to 4pm.
  • Business and trade waste is not accepted, and DIY waste must come from your own household.

If you have a van and the time, the tip is a real option. If you do not, or the load is heavy and the flat is upstairs, that is where we come in.

Worked through

A 3 seater, 2 armchairs and a room full of furniture

Say you are emptying a Harlow living room and dining room: a 3 seater sofa, 2 armchairs, a dining table with 6 chairs, a sideboard and a TV unit. Under the council rules above, the sofa and armchairs are upholstered, carry extra fees and cannot go with the rest, so you are looking at 2 separate collections.

With us it is 1 visit. We carry the lot out, sofa first if the doorway is tight, load it together and leave the rooms clear.

On the day

What to expect when we come to Harlow

  • We arrive at the time agreed and check the load matches the photos.
  • We carry everything out ourselves, protecting doorways and stair rails as we go.
  • Bulky pieces are taken apart only if they will not fit through a door.
  • We sweep up before we go, inside and on the path.

Questions

Rubbish removal in Harlow: questions

Why does the council collect sofas separately in Harlow?

+

Harlow Council says upholstered items cannot be collected with other bulky waste because the Environment Agency requires specialist disposal for them (as published on 15 October 2026).

Can you take everything in 1 visit?

+

In most cases, yes. Upholstered furniture, other furniture, bags and garden waste can go together. If a load is too big for 1 trip, we tell you when we price it.

Is it cheaper to use the council?

+

For a handful of items you can put out yourself, it can be. Compare Harlow Council's charges with our price for the same load and choose whichever suits you.

Do you cover all of Harlow?

+

Yes, every neighbourhood in CM17, CM18, CM19 and CM20.

Where do you travel from?

+

Theydon Bois, near Epping, south of Harlow. Tell us your date and we will confirm whether we can make it.

Do you clear offices?

+

Yes, desks, chairs, cabinets and general office waste. A business needs a waste transfer note for each load, so tell us it is office waste when you book.
