The council service
Brentwood is not in Epping Forest District, so its rules are different. As published by Brentwood Borough Council on 15 October 2026, the bulky waste service costs £25 for the first item and £15 for each item after that. Collections run on Tuesdays between 7.30am and 3pm, and everything must be out in a visible spot by 7.30am.
Sofas, armchairs, padded chairs and other upholstered items go on a separate Friday collection at the same prices. Cancel with less than 24 hours' notice before 7.30am on the day and there is a £13 admin fee. Fridges and washing machines are not collected by the council at all; they go through LFP Bulky Waste instead.
The council will not take, among other things:
Some items on that list, such as asbestos, chemicals and gas canisters, need specialist handling. Send a photo of anything you are unsure about and we will tell you whether we can take it.

The tip
Brentwood is one of only 9 Essex County Council sites that accept vans, pick ups and large trailers. Brentwood Recycling Centre on Coxtie Green Road, CM14 5PN, needs a free booking for each van visit, and you show your confirmation email and proof of address at the gate. All of that is as published by Essex County Council on 15 October 2026.
Opening hours are 9am to 5pm from 1 March to 15 October, then 9am to 4pm from 16 October to the end of February. It takes household waste only, with DIY waste from your own home in limited amounts. Mountnessing Recycling Centre on Roman Road, also in the borough, takes no van bookings.
So if you have a van and the time, you can book a slot and do it yourself. What we offer is everything before the drive: getting a wardrobe off the landing, a dismantled shed out of the garden and the whole lot stacked safely on a van.
A worked example
Picture a couple moving from a family house in Brentwood to a flat. Left behind: a glass display cabinet, 2 large mirrors, the panels of a shed already taken down, a sofa, a single bed and a garage of boxes.
Under the council rules published on 15 October 2026, the cabinet, the mirrors and the shed panels are all refused. The sofa needs its own Friday booking, and the bed and boxes go on a Tuesday. That is 2 collections, and 3 items with nowhere to go.
We would price the whole list from photos and take it in 1 visit, carrying the glass with care and leaving the garage swept.

CM13, CM14 and CM15
Send photos of the lot, and we will price the council's refused items alongside everything else.
Display cabinets, mirrored wardrobe doors and old glazed doors, carried out carefully and loaded flat.
Brentwood Borough Council's garden bin takes no soil, stones or plant pots, and no branch over 150mm across, as published on 15 October 2026. We take those with the rest.
Sofas, armchairs and padded chairs go on the van with everything else, with no separate Friday booking.
Washing machines, fridges and freezers taken on the same visit. More on our electrical waste disposal page.
Plasterboard, tiles and broken slabs from a home project, which the bulky service refuses as construction waste. See builders waste removal.
Emptied in 1 visit, with no item by item count and no waiting for a Tuesday.
The law on your side
Brentwood Borough Council states on its fly tipping page, read on 15 October 2026, that householders can be prosecuted if they fail their duty of care. That duty sits in section 34(2A) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990: you must take reasonable steps to check that anyone other than the council who takes your waste is authorised to carry it.
The council's release of 25 March 2026 shows why it matters. A man linked to a Harlow address pleaded guilty at Southend Magistrates' Court to 4 fly tipping offences in Brentwood between November 2024 and July 2025, involving about 8 tonnes of waste.
Search the Environment Agency public register for any collector's name before you book, and keep your receipt. Ours is listed under CBDU525129. Businesses also need a waste transfer note for each load.

Pricing
We work from what you show us rather than charging by the item. You send photos, we look at the whole load, and we come back to you with a price.
