Rubbish removal in Chigwell, IG7, without a trip to Luxborough Lane

Rubbish removal in Chigwell for homes across IG7, from the roads by the station out to Grange Hill. We carry it out from wherever it sits, load it ourselves and take it away in our van from Theydon Bois, so none of it has to go in your car.

The tip in town

Chigwell Recycling Centre is close, but it will not take a van

Chigwell has its own Essex County Council recycling centre on Luxborough Lane, IG7 5AA. That sounds like the easy answer until the load is bigger than a car boot. As published on 15 October 2026, the site does not accept bookings for vans, pick ups or large trailers, so a hired or borrowed van is no use there.

Essex County Council sets a few more rules for its recycling centres, also as published on 15 October 2026, that are worth knowing before you plan a run of car trips:

  • Every visit needs its own free booking, unless you hold a Blue Badge or arrive on foot or by bike.
  • You may be asked for proof of address, and you must live in the county council area.
  • Household waste only. Trade and business waste is refused at every site.
  • Only 9 Essex sites take booked vans, and Chigwell is not one of them.

If a few bags and a chair fit in your car, the tip costs you nothing and we would tell you so. We come in when the load is too big, too heavy or too awkward for that.

What we clear in IG7

What we take away in Chigwell

Send a photo through the quote form and we will come back to you with a price for the whole lot.

Loads too big for the car

Wardrobes, bed frames and a dining set. If it would take 4 or 5 booked visits to Luxborough Lane, 1 van trip is simpler.

Family home clear outs

Whole rooms emptied before a sale or a move, with the boxes, the furniture and the bits nobody wants to sort.

Garage and loft contents

We bring down what has built up in the loft and clear the garage floor, loading it straight onto the van.

Garden rubbish and old furniture

Rotten benches, cracked pots, bagged cuttings and the panels from a fence that came down in the wind.

Electricals and white goods

Fridges, washing machines and old televisions go on the van with everything else. See our electrical waste disposal page.

Waste the tip will not accept

The Chigwell site takes household waste only. If it came from your business, we collect it as a separate job.

A worked example

Emptying a family home near Chigwell station

Here is how that kind of job would run in IG7. Picture a house being emptied before it goes on the market: 2 wardrobes, a dining table with 6 chairs, a sofa bed, about 20 boxes and a garage of odds and ends.

In a hatchback, that is a run of trips to Luxborough Lane, each booked separately and each limited to what fits behind the seats. The wardrobes probably will not fit at all.

With us it is 1 visit. You send photos of each room, we price the whole lot, and on the day we carry everything out, sweep the floors we have cleared and drive the load away.

On the day

How a Chigwell collection runs

  1. 1

    Send us what you have

Photos, a short video or a list. Mention stairs, a long garden or anything very heavy so the price allows for it.

  2. 2

Agree a price and a date

We price the job from what you send and confirm a day that works for you.

  3. 3

    We arrive and load

We carry everything out ourselves, taking care not to cause damage to doors, walls or floors on the way.

  4. 4

    We leave it clear

The space we emptied is swept and left clean, and the van drives the load away.

Pricing

How we work out a price for rubbish removal in Chigwell

There is no rate card on this site. Every load is different, so we look at what you send and give you a price for that job.

  • How much space the load takes up on the van.
  • How heavy it is. Bagged soil and rubble weigh far more than boxes of clothes.
  • How far we carry it, and whether there are stairs on the way.
  • Items that need separate handling, such as fridges and freezers.

Our page on how a price is built explains each of these in more detail and sets the council's own charges alongside, so you can see which route suits your job.

Your duty

Checking who takes your rubbish

Whoever collects your household rubbish, the law puts a duty on you as well. Under section 34(2A) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, a householder must take reasonable steps to check that anyone other than the council who takes their waste is authorised to carry it. The simplest check is the Environment Agency public register of waste carriers, which anyone can search by name. Search for CBDU525129 and you will find us.

This is not a technicality in Chigwell. Epping Forest District Council reported on 9 December 2025 that a Brook Parade resident was given a £300 penalty notice for breaching that duty, after saying they had paid someone to remove items but being unable to show any evidence.

So ask for a name you can look up, and keep the message or invoice that shows who took your rubbish. If you run a business, you also need a waste transfer note for each load that leaves your premises.

Questions

Rubbish removal in Chigwell: your questions

Can I take a van to the Chigwell recycling centre?

+

No. As published by Essex County Council on 15 October 2026, the Luxborough Lane site does not accept bookings for vans, pick ups or large trailers. Cars can book a free slot for each visit.

Do you cover Grange Hill as well?

+

Yes. Grange Hill station sits within Chigwell parish, and we collect from homes all around it as well as the rest of IG7.

Will you carry things out of the house?

+

Yes. We do the lifting and the loading, from upstairs rooms, lofts, garages and back gardens. Tell us about any stairs when you send your photos.

How do I get a price?

+

Send photos through the free quote page. We look at the volume, the weight and the access, then come back to you with a price for the whole job.

Could the council's special collection do it instead?

+

For a few large items, often yes. Epping Forest District Council's special collection, as published on 15 October 2026, takes up to 10 items in 6 months and charges £34.80 for 1 to 3 items. It refuses garden waste, building waste and carpets, and cannot be used for clearances.

What if someone I paid fly tips my rubbish?

+

You can be held responsible if you did not check who took it. Epping Forest District Council has issued penalties in Chigwell more than once, including a £400 fixed penalty notice to a construction company director on 10 February 2026 after waste was dumped at Copperfield.
