Rubbish removal in Ongar, for outbuildings, long drives and rural homes

Rubbish removal in Ongar and the countryside around it, across CM5. Homes out here often have more room than a town house, and more places for things to gather: sheds, stores, garages and other outbuildings. We come out from Theydon Bois, load it all ourselves and take it away.

Getting to you

Reaching rural homes around Chipping Ongar

Chipping Ongar sits on the A414 between Harlow and Chelmsford, with the A128 heading south towards Brentwood. Our van comes over from Theydon Bois, and the lanes, farm tracks and private drives beyond the High Street are part of the job, not a reason to turn it down.

When you send your photos, tell us how the van gets to you. A long gravel drive, a gate with a code, a soft verge or a tight turning space all help us plan the day. If the van cannot reach the building, we allow for the carry in the price.

Where Ongar rubbish can go without us

There is no recycling centre in Ongar. Epping Forest District Council lists 4 Essex sites for district residents, as published on 15 October 2026: Chigwell, Waltham Abbey, Harlow at Temple Bank (CM20 2DY) and Brentwood at Coxtie Green Road (CM14 5PN). None of the official pages says which one is nearest to you.

Only 2 of those, Harlow and Brentwood, accept vans, pick ups and large trailers, and then only with a booking for each visit, according to Essex County Council on the same date. Chigwell and Waltham Abbey take cars only.

So a resident with their own van can book Harlow or Brentwood and do the run themselves. If you would rather not spend the day loading, driving and unloading, that is the part we take off your hands.

CM5 clear outs

What we clear around Ongar

Rural clear outs tend to be mixed, so 1 price covers every item that goes on the van.

Outbuildings and stores

Old tools, broken furniture, empty sacks and the timber that has been leaning against the wall for years.

Garden and paddock rubbish

Broken fencing, old netting, bagged cuttings and the remains of a collapsed cold frame.

Garages and workshops

Shelving, boxes, worn out mowers and strimmers, cleared out with the floor swept once the space is empty.

Freezers and other electricals

Chest freezers from the utility room, old washing machines and anything with a plug. Read more on electrical waste disposal.

Houses emptied before a sale

Rooms, lofts and cellars cleared for a sale or a move. See our property clearance service for whole homes.

Heavy loads near soft ground

Rubble and soil from a garden project. We plan where the van stops so lawns and verges are not churned up.

A worked example

Emptying a garden store at the end of a long drive

Say a house outside Ongar has a brick store at the bottom of the garden, reached by a gravel drive. Inside: a chest freezer that has stopped working, 2 old bikes, a broken mower, rolls of carpet and a dozen bags of mixed rubbish.

Taking that to Harlow or Brentwood yourself means hiring or borrowing a van, booking a slot and lifting a freezer on your own. The council's special collection refuses carpet, as published by Epping Forest District Council on 15 October 2026, and will not collect from a garage or covered store.

We would drive down to the store, load everything ourselves, sweep out the floor and take the full load away in 1 trip.

Pricing

How a price for rubbish removal in Ongar is worked out

Rural jobs vary more than most, so we never guess. We price each one from the photos and details you send.

  • The amount of rubbish, judged by how much van space it fills.
  • Its weight, which matters most with soil, hardcore and scrap metal.
  • The distance between where it sits and where the van can stop.
  • Items handled on their own, such as freezers and fridges.

Our prices page sets out how each of these affects the figure, and how the council options compare.

Your responsibility

Checking who takes your rubbish

Dumped waste is a live problem around Ongar. Epping Forest District Council reported on 27 March 2026 that 2 residents had each received a £400 fixed penalty notice for dumping at Bansons Car Park after council CCTV caught them, following public reports of repeated dumping in the area.

If you pay someone to take rubbish away and it turns up in a car park or a field gateway, the trail can lead back to you. Section 34(2A) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 says a householder must take reasonable steps to check the collector is authorised, unless it is the council.

Search any collector on the Environment Agency public register of waste carriers before you book, and keep the invoice or messages. Our number on the register is CBDU525129. A farm shop, livery yard or any other business also needs a waste transfer note for each load.
