Garden waste removal in Epping, for the jobs the green bin cannot take

Garden waste removal in Epping CM16 for old sheds, fence panels, soil, turf and the heap left after a big cut back. Send us a photo of the garden and we price the job from what you send.

The green bin first

What the council garden bin covers in Epping

Epping Forest District Council collects garden waste by subscription. As published on 18 October 2026 (page last modified 12 October 2026), it costs £60 for collections from 1 April to 31 March. It is a fixed period with no pro rata, so joining late in the year still costs the full amount. Extra bins are £35 each, and each extra bin needs its own £30 subscription.

For lawn mowings and border clippings through the year, the bin is good value and we would tell anyone to keep it. The trouble starts with anything that will not fit under the lid. The council's special collection will not take garden waste, soil, cut down trees, fence panels, sheds or greenhouses, so those jobs fall between the 2 services. That gap is where we come in.

What we take

Garden waste we take away in Epping

Photograph the pile, or the whole garden if it is a clear out, and send it through the quote form, WhatsApp or a call to 07834 527 855.

After a big cut back

Hedge trimmings, conifer branches and tree limbs, usually far more than a bin holds. Leave it in a heap and we bag and load it.

Soil and turf

Dug out for a new patio or path. Heavy and awkward, so tell us roughly how much there is when you send the photo.

Sheds, greenhouses and fences

Old timber sheds, rotten fence panels and greenhouse frames. Epping Forest District Council's special collection refuses all 3 (as published on 15 October 2026).

Broken slabs and old paving

Cracked concrete slabs and edging lifted during a garden makeover, loaded with the green waste in the same visit.

A full garden before a sale

Overgrown borders, a collapsed shed and years of pots, cleared so the garden photographs well for the listing.

Everyday clippings

For weekly mowings, Epping Forest District Council's £60 a year bin (as published on 15 October 2026) is the sensible choice. Use us for the one off jobs it cannot handle.

Pricing

How garden waste is priced

Garden jobs vary more than most, because the same space of waste can weigh very different amounts. Dry hedge clippings are light and bulky. Wet turf and soil are heavy and cost more to tip. A shed adds the time it takes to take it apart before anything is loaded.

A photo from the back door showing the whole pile, plus a line about how far it is from the garden to the road, gives us what we need. We reply with a price, and nothing happens until you agree. The prices page sets out what moves a price up or down.

Doing it yourself

Taking garden waste to the tip from Epping

Epping Forest district has 2 recycling centres, at Waltham Abbey and Chigwell, and Essex County Council runs both. Their rules (read on 18 October 2026) shape what you can do with a big garden job:

  • Waltham Abbey, EN9 1JU, and Chigwell, IG7 5AA, both need a booking and neither takes bookings for vans, pick ups or large trailers.
  • Harlow Recycling Centre, Temple Bank, CM20 2DY, is the nearest Essex site that accepts booked vans.
  • Essex County Council says multiple bookings in 7 days may be cancelled as excessive (read on 15 October 2026).

A few bags in the car boot is easy. A felled tree or a whole shed usually is not, which is why people ask us to load a van instead of a skip.

In the garden

How a garden clearance runs

  1. 1

    Agree what stays

We walk the garden with you and mark the plants, pots and paving you want left alone.

  2. 2

    Bag, break down, carry

Loose cuttings go into bags, timber is taken apart, and everything is carried through the side gate or house without marking walls.

  3. 3

    Rake and sweep

We rake the lawn where the heap stood and sweep the path and drive before the van leaves.

A typical job

An old shed and the fence panels behind it

Here is the kind of Epping garden job that falls through every gap. The felt roof on an old shed has gone, the floor is soft, and the 4 fence panels behind it have rotted at the posts. The shed is full of broken tools and empty pots.

The green bin cannot take any of it, and Epping Forest District Council's special collection refuses both sheds and fence panels (as published on 15 October 2026). We empty the shed, take the roof, walls and floor apart, stack the panels and load the lot, leaving a clear base ready for whatever replaces it.

For bigger jobs anywhere we cover, see our main garden waste removal service.

Fly tipping and you

Checking who takes your rubbish

Garden waste is easy to dump in a lay by, and the district has a fly tipping problem. Epping Forest District Council reported 2,476 fly tips in 2023/2024, a 9% rise, in an article dated 24 January 2025 (read on 15 October 2026), and says fly tipping can bring fines of up to £50,000.

If your waste is found dumped, you can be held responsible. Under section 34(2A) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, householders must take reasonable steps to check that whoever takes their waste, other than the council, is authorised to. The simplest step is to ask for a waste carrier registration number and search for it on the Environment Agency public register before the job. Do that with us too. Our waste carrier number is CBDU525129, so you can look us up.

Questions

Garden waste in Epping: common questions

Is the council garden bin enough for me?

+

For regular mowings and light pruning, usually yes. Epping Forest District Council charges £60 for 1 April to 31 March (as published on 15 October 2026). It will not cope with soil, timber or a season's worth of hedge in 1 go.

Will you take soil and turf?

+

Yes. Bagged is quickest, but we can bag it on the day. Tell us roughly how much, as weight affects the price.

Can you dismantle a shed?

+

Send a photo of the shed and what is inside it. Most timber sheds can be taken apart and loaded in the same visit as the rest of the garden waste.

Do you take tree stumps?

+

We take waste away rather than grind stumps, so a stump needs to be out of the ground first. Once it is dug out, we can load it with the rest.

How is garden waste priced?

+

By how much space it fills, how heavy it is, and any dismantling. A photo of the whole pile is enough for most Epping gardens.

When should I book a garden clearance?

+

Once the cutting back is finished and the waste is in 1 place, so everything goes in a single trip. If you are selling, book before the estate agent takes photos.
